Helping patients wherever in the world they may be has been his mission and in Haiti help is
needed.
"The disaster is way worse than I ever imagined," says Paley.
Video shot by Paley's son shows how far Haiti has come since the earthquake, and how far it
has to go.
"I don't think you can appreciate it from a photograph, it's not until you walk among these
people who are living under tarps who are under nylon tents," says Paley.
Doctor Paley says every available space is filled with tents. Kids are learning to read in the
streets and medical help can't come fast enough. In fact he was in the operating room within an
hour of arriving and spent most of his time fixing broken bones.
Many patients have been immobile for weeks. His worst case was a woman who broke her hip in
the earthquake and never saw a doctor until she laid eyes on him.
"Just the sheer volume of people showing up at the doorstep every single day nonstop, that
was gut wrenching," says Paley.
Something he'll never forget is that the displaced and injured had smiles on their faces and
nothing but the clothes on their back. All were grateful for his hard work which Paley adds was
just a drop in the bucket.
"The injured part is actually the smallest part which is the only part that I can personally help,
the socio-economic disaster is one that I personally can't solve," says Paley.
Paley says the best way you can help is to volunteer whether it's a day, a week or a year.
Go down there find a job he says and think about what you need in your life and know that's
what they need in their life.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- If you had a chance to walk a mile
in someone else's shoes, would you?  A local doctor is hoping
you'll walk along with him and see that Haiti still needs your
help.
Doctor Dror Paley spent a week in Haiti with a team of medical
professionals along with his two kids. This world-traveled
doctor has worked in the slums of Rio and the filth of India's
poverty but Haiti brought something he had never seen
before.
Poverty does not shock Paley, an orthopedic surgeon at St.
Mary's Medical Center.
